To get an idea about the inconsistencies and doubts about the centuries-old Shakespeare authorship debate and about William Shakspere from Stratford , you may watch

The true Shakespeare: Christopher Marlowe
Michael Rubbo an Australian filmmaker and an early advokate of the subjective personal documentary produced “ Much Ado About Something (2001 “ which explores the possibility that Christopher Marlowe was the hidden poet behind William Shakespeare. 2009 he expressed his conviction in an interview(s.below) :
(Excerpt): Marlowe is a good candidate , the trouble is of course that he is supposedly dead according to the official records, May 30 1593 in that nightfight in Deptford. What we propose, that he isn’t [dead]…Now the smoking gun that we have to find, is the proof, that he didn’t die that day…
Commentary: The hope for finding the "single" smoking gun (Marlowe's survival) probably is a mistake because the danger arises, you may overlook or neglect 1000 plausible evidences which are better suited to provide the proof.
The Video below in german gives a short exposé of the thesis of the book (in German)
"The true Shakespeare: Christopher Marlowe"
that appears in a revised and expanded Second Edition in December 2013. [Title modified]
It is developing a chain of compelling evidence, that concealed surviving Marlowe was the author of Shakespeare' work , but also of an abundant wealth of literature under other pseudonyms, initials, or anonymously. (like Breton, Basse , Clarke, Davies, Chapman, Heywood, Markham, to name a few....)
Peter Farey can be seen as the world leading expert on Marlowe's life and history. His Homepage on Marlowe is the most comprehensive compilation of all the facts gathered around Marlowe's life and death..
Yet the core title of his informative Website tells us ultimately , that Marlowe was not Shakespeare. : He would have equalled him , if he had not have a sudden and fearful end of his life.
How dit it come about that he does not trust his own insights? Was he too cowardly , or too discouraged?
Or did he try to hide something behind the strange (double conjunctive) lines ?
( ...had it not been ....he would have)
Ros Barber, PhD. has started a Lean Publishing Project (s.Video) that is devoted to the problem of the Shakespeare authorship.
The planned book purports to represent a neutral standpoint and Barber is announced by "Leanpub" as beeing agnostic on the issue of Shakespeare's authorship, not easy to understand, since with her books Barber seemed to be a proponent of the Marlowe Thesis.
She wants to break new ground in the digital transmission of unresolved problems of the authorship of Shakespeare.
In the Blockbuster "Shakespeare in Love" (see the following scene) Marlowe (Rupert Everett) is very superior to Shakespeare (Joseph Fiennes) , Shakespeare irresolutely and dependent on Marlowe's ideas.
What may have motivated the director to depict the two poets with such a gradient of sovereignty and competence?
(41)Video-Collage: Hitler learns, that Shakespeare as a poet cannot be defended against the truth of Marlowe's Poet-Genius
This is a bizarre and grotesque video collage of a film section of the fall of Berlin "The Untergang " in which Adolf Hitler (performed by Bruno Ganz) learns that Berlin can not be defended , but here Hitler learns that he has to accept, Shakespeare can not be defended: Marlowe is the true poetic genius.
An imaginative artistic collage of a very special kind ...
Understanding German and looking at the Video-clip you should reduce the sound and just read along the text accompanying the movie....

On the occasion of the 70th birthday of bestselling Shakespeare author Stephen Greenblatt, the largest German national subscription daily newspaper, the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" wrote on October 7th 2013 an appreciation of Greenblatts merits and achievements. Alexander Menden began his article with the remarkable proposition that any scholar of the Renaissance literature period nowadays has to start with asking himself the crucial question: Who really wrote Shakespeare's works?
Even if Greenblatt feels this question as ridiculous, it raises some general questions:
It's ... hard to imagine that 20 years ago the "german Feuilleton" would have touched such a taboo and advanced such an opinion ... is one to understand that there is an upcoming change of the "Zeitgeist" with a growing perception about the dubiousness of the Stratfordman as a mediocre personality ?
Or are these events the preliminaries of the upcoming major Shakespeare Anniversary 2014 (450 birthday) searching for a coherent conclusion of the permanent Shakespeare irritation?
(38) Rubin publicly criticized: ... to be a "Stratfordean" is believing in the Statfordman "Shakspere", ..... is to be "religious".....
Don Rubin, organizer of the Toronto Conference on Shakespeare Authorship, who teaches a course on the Shakespeare authorship at York University (Toronto Canada) came under fire in print.
Kelly Nestruck wrote Oct. 16, 2013 in the Toronto Globe & Mail under the title "Amid controversy, two Canadian universities financilly back debate over Shakespeare's 'true identity'". The article generated extensive commentary by readers.
For mainstream academics however, the conference’s apparent stamp of approval from York and Guelph is an embarrassment.
Rubin compares himself to Galileo (who was persecuted by the Catholic Church for defending Copernicus’s theory that the Earth revolves around the sun) Rubin believes "Stratfordeans", like the church, will eventually come around.
“I do believe that apologies will come [from] those who are hanging back with the apes, those who feel it’s okay to ridicule, those will feel it’s okay to say this is heresy,”
(37) Greenblatt: That US Moonlanding was forged is fare more likely than that someone else wrote the Shakespeare plays
Stephen Greenblatt, gave in interview for CBS News online Nov.23 2011 on the Occasion of Emmerichs filmstart "Anonymus". Beeing introduced as the worlds leading Shakespeare scholar he was asked about the Shakespeare authorship theory . He answered:
"...it's absolutely nothing to it. I think it is really quite an absurd idea, or rather, I think that is is far more likely that the US moonlanding was forged and filmed in Holywwod Sound Studios than it is that someone else wrote those Plays, I mean, anything is possible, it depends how far out you are willing to go, in imaging unlikely scenarios of conspiracies. If you happen to love conspiracies, you can go for this, but ist very unlikely...".
If Greenblatt is really of this opinion, then a faked moon landing should not have been so unlikely!
